College Classes for North Surry High School Students:
There are over 50 different college courses that NSHS students can take. Some courses are online, in classrooms, or a combination of both. Classes are offered from Surry Community College.
Students are considered dual enrollment and earn High School AND College credit.
Most College courses are weighted on a scale of 5.0.
Textbooks and Tuition are FREE to NSHS students!!!

College classes for high school students: As a North Carolina public high school student, you have a unique opportunity to earn college credits while you are still in high school. In fact, you can earn both high school and college credit at the same time, and at no cost to you. You could even leave high school with enough credits to qualify as a college junior. Check out the links above to learn how you can get a jump start on your college career.
Career & College Promise (CCP): North Carolina high school students can earn college credits through a special initiative called Career & College Promise. Qualified students in high school can take a variety of college-credit courses at no cost to them or to their families. Students earn both high school and college credit for completed courses. Courses are offered during fall, spring, and summer through the North Carolina Community College System.
Career & College Promise provides two pathways to help advance eligible students’ post high school success.
1. College Transfer Pathway – Earn tuition-free course credits toward a
four-year degree through North Carolina’s community colleges.
2. Career and Technical Education Pathway – Earn tuition-free course credits at an NC Community
College toward an entry-level job credential, certificate or diploma in a technical career.

Dual Credit: This latest update to the Dual Credit Chart is based upon the recently revised Comprehensive Articulation Agreement and corresponding Career & College Promise pathway changes.
